#WFH Diaries: Adriano Matos of Leo Burnett
As quarantines continue across much of the world, we're checking in with creative people to see how they're handling the WFH situation. Below, we chat with Adriano Matos, executive creative director at Leo Burnett in Chicago.
Give us a one-line bio of yourself.
I'm a Brazilian creative passionate about the power of creativity to change lives and businesses, currently working at Leo Burnett.
Where are you living right now, and who's with you?
I live in Chicago, Lincoln Park, with my wife and my two little daughters.
What's your work situation like at the moment, and how is it evolving?
I got to the U.S. less than three months ago, so it's been new and crazy to live for the first time in a foreign country, during a pandemic.
When you do you expect to return to the office?
I hope we can be back in July.
Describe your socializing strategy.
Zoom meetings with friends and family until now. From now on, Facebook Messenger Rooms meetings (which by the way is my client).
How are you dealing with childcare?
It's been crazy, lot of meetings being interrupted by my kids. Thankfully their Brazilian nanny decided to accept our invitation and joined us in Chicago. She is amazing and has been a relentless help.
What are you reading?
After a full day working in English, I've been reading Brazilian authors. It's a way to feel close to my country in this crazy environment.
What are you watching?
I'm crazy about The Last Dance. It's amazing to be watching it while in Chicago.
What are you listening to?
Lots of Bossa Nova songs—I love it—and the Frozen soundtrack. Well, I don't love it, but I love those who love it. 😊
How are you staying fit?
I'm not staying fit, but sometimes I go for a walk.
Have you taken up a hobby?
Playing the piano and the guitar, always. I need it to keep sane.
An awkward moment since all this started.
Every time the elevator door opens, a neighbor is inside and I refuse to enter.
An aha! moment since all this started.
When the creative team shared with me the Clone Machine idea for Coors Light.
What's your theory on how this is going to play out?
No idea. Hopefully we will live in a better world when this nightmare is over.
