Oreo Unboxes Character Cookies for Pokémon's 25th Anniversary
Put that cookie-free future on hold!
Oreo and Pokémon have teamed up to celebrate the media and gaming franchise's 25th anniversary. The co-branded branded revelry includes limited-edition Pokémon cookie packs available online for pre-order and hitting shelves next week:
Sixteen cream-filled, dunk-able designs depict Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and other characters. But, "just like in the Pokémon world, some Pokémon x Oreo cookies will be harder for Trainers to find," we're told.
So, you'll have to shop around and a whole lot of cookies in order to ... catch 'em all! (Sorry, but you knew it was coming.)
Developed with 360i, MediaMonks, VaynerMedia and Weber Shandwick, the campaign includes a Framestore film made from thousands of black-and-white "cookie pixels."
There's also an art installation on L.A.'s Venice Beach with a pixelated Pikachu crafted from 8,000 3-D replicas of the limited-edition cookies, and it looks something like this billboard:
Maybe those striking workers from Oreo parent Mondelez will picket the site, who knows? It would sure beat trekking all the way to Oreo's apocalypse vault in the frigid wastes of Norway, or protesting in the wilds of Kansas, waiting for the aliens to arrive.
